The Appeal of Prada Sunglasses
I’m a multiple Prada Sunglasses owner, owning five to six different pairs across the years, and I still currently own three now. The build quality is terrible, and I’ve repeatedly made the mistake of repurchasing them. I own a pair of the Linea Rossa PS 50YS with a strip of red rubber around the top of the frame—less than six months after I bought them, the rubber piece started peeling off and hangs there like a thread, making them basically useless.
The only reason I haven’t thrown them away I might try gluing it back on, but it’s insane I even have to do that at this price point. Similarly, I have another pair with a similar issue—these have a little rubber pad on the inside of the temple tips that came loose.
I still use them because I have a larger head shape and Prada is the only brand that consistently makes masculine glasses wide enough for me. Sometimes Ray-Ban has a big enough option, but OP, Persol, and others consistently come up short on size. I’m looking for a replacement, but so far, no luck.
Given the price tag on Prada, I’m essentially paying for size and branding, definitely not the quality. To be honest, I don’t even care if I have to wear replicas—the manufacturer honestly brought it on themselves if they refuse to invest in basic durability.
